Cari Giannoulias Design

A three-story urban home designed with the intent to preserve the remarkable historic charm while adapting the space to be liveable, pliant, and warm.

Featuring a striking staircase, elegant marble features, and towering door frames the charm of this home is in the dramatics. Resurrected from humble roots, the owners of this personality-filled property saw past the foundational errs and sought to preserve the amazing structure of their home.

The goal- to keep the ornamental charm while creating spaces for today's living. Taking advantage of existing fireplaces and layered in new wares, En Masse architectural designers worked closely with the interior designer on materiality that emphasized the rich architecture.

“ By taking advantage of existing fireplaces and incorporating modern finishes, we were able to create a space that's as warm and welcoming as it is visually striking. “

- Jessie Lafree

The historical charm has been lovingly preserved, while new life has been breathed into every inch of the space. By repeating the scale of the openings throughout the new rooms and using similar dark finishes, En Masse's designers have ensured that the DNA and history of the home shine through, even as it's been transformed into a modern masterpiece.

“ Restoration is a process that involves so much determination and follow through.”

- Jessie Lafree

The striking staircase, with its rotunda design and ornate railings, serves as the centerpiece of the house. It's a show-stopping feature that's as functional as it is beautiful, providing a sense of grandeur and drama that's echoed throughout the space. The marble features and towering door frames are other standout elements that add to the home's undeniable charm. These ornamental touches have been carefully preserved and enhanced, allowing them to shine in all their glory.
